Waterbury Hospital is running Likely Cerner, Likely BD/Pyxis side by side. Every one of those speaks a different dialect of HL7/FHIR/X12 — which means someone on staff is today doing by hand (or not doing at all) what Vorro does automatically: keeping one patient's record consistent everywhere it needs to show up. On top of that, Waterbury Hospital already runs TigerConnect/TigerText clinical messaging to try to bridge some of these systems — a sign the integration burden is already visible to their own team, not just to us. Prior owner Prospect Medical Holdings filed for bankruptcy in Jan 2025 amid reported care/financial distress across its three CT hospitals — private-equity-driven bankruptcy situations are strongly associated with deferred IT investment and neglected interface infrastructure, making the incoming Cerner-to-Epic Community Connect transition a high-value, time-boxed integration opportunity. MAJOR: the Aug 2023 Prospect Medical ransomware attack directly hit Waterbury — EHR access was lost (reverted to paper charting), pharmacy stopped verifying new medication orders before administration, billing/Medicaid claims were blocked, and imaging was degraded (couldn't process stroke/MI-critical X-rays/CTs). The strongest 'thin, fragile legacy IT' evidence found for any hospital in this set, pre-dating the UConn acquisition.
